Let’s Talk About Blueberries

BLUEBERRIES OFFER A MULTITUDE OF BENEFITS:

Blueberries are native to North America, and date back to pre-colonial times. They are deliciously sweet, rich in manganese, and vitamins C and K. Blueberries contain high amounts of polyphenols, including anthocyanins and anthocyanidins which are micronutrients bursting with antioxidants offering excellent health benefits.

It’s thought that these particular polyphenols interfere with the inflammation process that leads to atherosclerosis, therefore reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Blueberry polyphenols may also reduce the risk of cancer, and cognitive decline.

Blueberries are also a good source of calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and B6. Blueberries also aid digestion, are colon protective, and help balance blood glucose. Just adding 1/2 cup to your breakfast bowl can have great health benefits. Eat up!

Help Your Body Activate Digestion Early

Upon rising drink the juice of one or two fresh lemons in a glass of warm water. This simple yet powerful ritual of a morning lemon water cleanse has great health benefits. Apart from alkalizing the body, and giving yourself a boost of hydration, you are also increasing your vitamin C concentration. This aids your body in the absorption of nutrients from your food intake that follows, such as breakfast. Lemon water helps to begin peristalsis, the wave-like motion of the digestive tract that moves digested food along and continues into the large intestine to move undigested waste out of the body.

If you like, you can even add other beneficial superfoods to your morning lemon water cleanse. To make a morning detox, simply add a ½ tsp. chlorella powder and a pitted date if you prefer it sweet (you will need to blend it). If you want to boost your metabolism, instead of chlorella try adding 1/8 tsp. cayenne powder.  To soothe the digestive tract, and calm an acidic environment try adding a chunk of fresh aloe or 1 oz. of aloe vera juice, you may also have to add a pitted date or 1 tsp. of agave as aloe is very bitter.

Begin your morning cleanse today and feel what a difference this ritual can make to your body. Take care of yourself!
