Raw cacao is packed full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which makes it an anti-aging superfood. Super-rich in magnesium, raw cacao helps lower blood pressure, regulates heart rate, elevates mood, balances brain chemistry, and promotes well-being. Not only is it high in magnesium but it also contains the mineral chromium, important in blood sugar regulation and potassium, important in electrolyte balance, muscle contraction and strong reflexes, and in maintaining muscle strength.
Raw cacao is also a good source of copper for iron absorption and manganese for strong bones. The iron found in raw cacao is an important component of hemoglobin, and in the transportation of oxygen throughout the body, and is a good source of zinc which helps to maintain a healthy immune system. Raw cacao also contains immune boosting vitamin C, essential fatty acids, tryptophan, an essential amino acid, and serotonin which is known as a natural antidepressant.
Theobromine, also found in raw cacao, similar to caffeine in its effects….boosts metabolism and increases energy. Raw cacao is also known to contain endorphins which are natural pain relievers, as well as the chemicals phenylethylamine and anandamide which help improve performance, concentration and mood.
